About the organization:

The Foundation for Research in Health Systems (FRHS) was founded in 1989 as a not-for-profit organization with an aim to provide technical assistance towards improving and strengthening of India’s Public Health System through research, innovation and interventions. FRHS' mission is to combine research with practice to make health research relevant to health workers, programme managers and policy makers. FRHS’ research and intervention areas include public health programme evaluation, assessment, and monitoring, skill development initiative for public health professionals, decentralized planning, community monitoring, Information Communication Technology (ICT) solutions, and health management information systems (HMIS). The Foundation predominantly works in the areas of maternal health, adolescent health, child health and nutrition, reproductive health, family planning and prevention of HIV/AIDS. In these areas, FRHS focuses on programme planning to strengthen existing systems; carrying out monitoring and evaluation; and programme/policy evaluation. 1. Research Assistant


Total numbers of position vacant: 12 (Twelve)

Duration of employment: 5 (Five) months, likely to extend based on project requirement.

Location: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Assam

Job Description: FRHS seeks to engage 12 (Twelve) numbers of Research Assistants with nursing background in the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Assam under the project titled as “Competency assessments for midwifery skills of providers and tutors, and barriers and facilitators in providing quality midwifery services in India”, funded by World Health Organization (WHO). The positions are full time employment in nature for a period of 5 (Five) months, starting from March first.

S/He will be responsible for carrying out surveys, In-Depth Interviews, and observation analysis with Midwifery educators and practicing nurse-midwives at various educational institutes and clinical set-ups in respective states. The responsibilities of the incumbent will include the following:

Primary responsibilities:
1.Fix appointment and facilitate permission seeking from various government/ semi-government/ private nursing institutes and clinical set-ups in the respective states.
2.Supervise and coordinate a team of 2 Research Investigators for data collection, and transcription & translation of In-Depth-Interviews in respective states.
3.Carrying out surveys with Midwifery educator and practising nurses through self-administered questionnaire.
4.Carrying out In-Depth Interviews with selected Midwifery educator and practising nurse-midwives.
5.Carrying out facility assessment.
6.Carrying out observations of Midwifery educator and practising nurse-midwives on selected parameters.

Secondary responsibilities:
1.Assist in writing project report and scientific paper.
2.Quality check of data collected by the team.
3.Data management.
4.Transcription of In-Depth Interviews
5.Translation of IDI transcript to English

Minimum required eligibility:
1.M. Sc. Nursing or MPH with nursing background.
2.Candidates with B. Sc. Nursing/ or GNM with at least 7 years of experience may also be considered.
3.Resident of the state applied for OR well-versed with languages spoken in the state applied for.
4.Professional level proficiency in English language is required.
5.Experience and Familiarity with public health research is preferred.
6.Familiarity with qualitative research method is preferred.

Additional requirements:
1.Comfortable with extensive field work and travel.
2.Good inter-personal skill.
3.Good documentation skill.

Remuneration:
Remuneration will be as per the standard of Indian Development sector and will commensurate with experience and skills.

2. Research Investigator

Duration of employment: 2 (Two) months.

Location: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Assam

Job Description: FRHS seeks to engage 24 numbers of Research Investigators with nursing background in the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Assam under the project titled as “Competency assessments for midwifery skills of providers and tutors, and barriers and facilitators in providing quality midwifery services in India”, funded by World Health Organization (WHO). The positions are short term employment and full time in nature for a period of 2 months, starting from mid-March.

S/He will be responsible for carrying out surveys, In-Depth Interviews, and observations with Midwifery educators and practicing nurse-midwives at various educational institutes and clinical set-ups in respective states. The responsibilities of the incumbent will include the following:

Primary responsibilities:
1.visit to various government, semi-government, or private nursing institutes and clinical set-ups and avail local permission from the respective institutes, and clinics for data collection.
2.Carrying out surveys with Midwifery educators and practising nurse-midwives through self-administered questionnaire.
3.Carrying out In-Depth Interviews with selected practising nurse-midwives.
4.Carrying out observations of practising nurse-midwives on selected parameters.
5.Transcription of In-Depth-Interviews.
6.Translation of In-Depth-Interviews to English.
7.Data management

Minimum required eligibility:
1.B. Sc. Nursing/ or GNM is essential.
2.Resident of the state applied for OR Well-versed with the languages spoken in the state applied for.
3.Professional level of proficiency in English language is required.
4.Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research method is preferred.
