Who We Are

Since 1989, the Foundation for Research in Health Systems (FRHS) has combined research with a strong field presence to make research results meaningful to field-level health workers, program managers, and policymakers.

FRHS predominantly works in the areas of maternal health, adolescent health, child health and nutrition, reproductive health, family planning and prevention of HIV/AIDS.

Our Mission
  • Learn through field research and best practices in healthcare systems.
  • Improve skills and employability of health care providers through training and technology enabled solution
  • Leverage public and private health care systems to achieve equity, sustainability and quality in healthcare delivery

Research Focus Areas

Public Health Research:

Formative Research allows program managers and policy-makers to understand their communities better, in terms of people’s interests, characteristics and needs, as a way to improve program implementation.

Intervention Research involves testing new products or processes in the field, refining the intervention, and assessing the intervention in terms of its health impact in the community.

Situation Analysis uses case studies and qualitative research methods to explore a specific issue, such as mother and child health, reproductive health, or reproductive health behavior of young people.

Evaluation Research is undertaken to explore program implications of new policies such as decentralized health planning, community mobilization, and community monitoring.

Training & Capacity Building

Considering its rich experience in training and capacity building in public health, FRHS has created a unique vertical called “Technology-enabled Learning for Skill Development.”

The main objectives of this novel initiative are:

  • Web-based: Make web-based learning available anytime, anywhere for health-care workers/personnel, including nurses.
  • Interactive: Provide interaction/guidance/feedback tools to learners and act as a facilitator between the experts and the students.
  • Certified: Assess and provide certification to learners (on-line/off-line).
