What the data shows
- Nationally, the largest age group shares (Male) are 30-49 at 25.2%, 5-14 at 21.8%, 20-29 at 17.5% (Census 2011).
- The all-India figure for age distribution (Male, <1) is 1.7% (Census 2011).
- Across the 36 states and union territories reporting it, values range from 1.1% in Daman & Diu to 2.8% in Meghalaya.
- The next highest are Jammu & Kashmir (2.3%) and Mizoram (2.2%), while Sikkim (1.2%) and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (1.3%) sit near the bottom.
- 11 of the 28 states report a value above the national figure.
